Technology - Exosuit

TECHNOLOGY

The Atlas Exosuit

Powered both by solar energy and the caloric intake of its wearer, the Atlas Exosuit is a form-fitting, elastic, and almost weightless suit designed to allow its wearer to survive in a variety of inhospitable environments. While not invincible they do offer a degree of protection from harm and will increase the rate of healing in their users from non-lethal injuries. If damaged the suit will slowly repair itself so long as its wearer is alive.

Any ability a character has is powered directly by the suit except in the case of minor biological "advantages" such as venom, low-light vision, an enhanced sense of smell, etc. In order for characters to use their abilities they must have power in their suits. The stronger and more intense and ability, the faster it drains energy from the suit. No matter how strong or powerful a character may be in their own world or canon, in-game they are limited to what their suit has energy for. Game-breaking powers such as pocket dimensions, those strong enough to destroy anything larger than buildings, time manipulation, and future-sight are off-limits and cannot be used, regardless of exosuit upgrades and functionality.

Upon activating all suits start at 20% functionality--the bare minimum needed for survival--and 100% power. They can however be upgraded and repaired through participation in events, and will recover their functionality over the course of the game. If characters remove their exosuits in an inhospitable environment they will lose all access to their abilities as well as their life support, and will face inevitable death within three minutes.

Atlas Exosuits differ from regular exosuits in that they can interface with and absorb the capabilities of other technology simply by touching it. Most upgrades to the suits will be made this way, but please remember that characters cannot absorb any tech or abilities offered in an event without it first being approved. Atlas Exosuits do not currently have helmets.

While initially empty, all exosuits have an internal database which can store basic map data. This means that as a character moves and explores their suit will save a copy of this information sans any landmarks or notes. Characters have no control over the map information recorded and cannot modify it in any way.

Wrist Communicator

The Atlas Wrist Communicator is built into the suit and uses a holographic display. When characters first wake from stasis a message displays on the communicator which tells them to "Find The Atlas" before disappearing. The device cannot be used for anything save to broadcast an S.O.S beacon that only other Atlas Exosuits can detect. It's basically a glorified locator.

While no messages are displayed after the initial one, that isn't to say characters won't find themselves receiving some at a later date...

The Mark

All stasis pods and all suits bear this mark, although what significance this has is currently unknown. Suits carry it on the back of the left palm while stasis pods and other technology have it printed clearly somewhere on their surface. Is it a corporate logo? The mythical brand of an all-seeing entity? Characters will have to figure this out for themselves! What they do known for certain is that whoever or whatever designed this technology made sure each and every piece of it bore this mark.
